Wet Laminate Flooring
People just love laminate flooring. The stuff is tough as nails...except for water damage.
Water is the nemesis of laminate floors.
Almost all laminate floors, sometimes called "floating floors" (no pun intended) have a layer of foam installed under them and on top of the sub floor. This foam becomes a sponge holding water under the laminate and causing it to warp at seams, raise up in places and swell.
This floor was in a Valley Mills, TX, water damage restoration job. You can see where the planks met together beginning to separate and swell.
Laminate floors virtually always need replaced in a water damage situation.
There was also a layer of old vinyl under the laminate and pad which had to be removed as well.
The floor is ready for new floor covering in the after picture.
