Heavy Rain Flooding
Ground Water - ugh!
Sometimes when there are large amounts of rain in a short period of time or intermittent episodes of heavy rains, water can begin to gather and run across yards, streets, etc., where rain seldom goes or has never been known to stand/flow before.
This is called ground water in the insurance industry. If your home or building is in the path or is the low point to where the water is coming, there is virtually nothing that can be done to keep it out of the building at that point.
The pictures above are actually in odd order in that when we arrived the water had actually gone though part of the home and the after picture is after the flow had stopped. Water was still streaming heavily down the driveway running off the surrounding areas.
Unfortunately, "ground water" is rarely covered by insurance, unless the building is in a flood plain and special insurance has been purchased to cover it.
SERVPRO of Waco was able to completely extract the water from this Hewitt home for a reasonable fee and the folks made home improvements inside and out.
