Wet Batts in Belpry

Well, this is actually blown-in insulation as opposed to "batts" of insulation, but the effect from the burst water pipe is the same.

Sometimes a pipe in an attic will leak for one reason or another, this one was from a winter freeze in the Whitney TX area.

It becomes necessary to get the insulation off the dry wall of the ceiling drywall so it can dry and so the wet weight of the insulation doesn't cause the ceiling drywall to saturate and collapse.

The photo on the right is after the wet insulation was removed from the drywall of the ceiling. 

The ceiling is almost always salvageable but may need sealed and painted once dry.  That way what is in the attic stays in the attic!
